About this role

Trading Technologies is in the middle of a massive infrastructure shift within the high-stakes world of capital markets. We are removing our legacy VMware datacenter, upgrading our Red Hat ecosystem, and modernizing our AWS footprint to support low-latency, high-performance trading systems.

We need a Senior Platform Engineer to join the new Platform Team, with the main goal of making life incredibly easy for our developers while maintaining the ironclad reliability our industry demands. You will architect and build out Backstage as our central software catalog, holding all the metadata, ownership data, and telemetry for our high-performance engineering systems.

Our engineering organization is being restructured into dedicated Cloud and Platform teams, and we are treating our platform as a product rather than a ticketing system. You will build golden paths and self-service tools that abstract away the complexity of AWS, so developers can ship code without friction and without breaking critical financial workflows.

This is your chance to gain deep, hands-on experience building the highly robust, low-latency platforms that power capital markets. You will bring your deep Linux SRE expertise to an environment where microseconds matter, supporting the upgrade and optimization of our Red Hat environments while migrating latency-sensitive workloads off VMware and into a modernized AWS setup.

Requirements

7+ years primarily focused on Platform Engineering, SRE, or modern DevOps
Real experience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and configuring Backstage plugins and data models
Linux expert with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), able to tune the OS for performance and troubleshoot complex issues under heavy load
Track record of moving workloads out of legacy on-prem datacenters (especially VMware) into AWS
Highly familiar with modern CI/CD, container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), and GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux)
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and CDK
Deep understanding of low-latency, high-performance trading systems and the reliability demands of capital markets

Responsibilities

Own Backstage: architect and build it out as the central software catalog, holding all metadata, ownership data, and telemetry for high-performance engineering systems
Modernize deployments: overhaul current pipelines toward GitOps, containerization, and progressive delivery so developers can ship code without friction
Fix the DevEx: build golden paths and self-service tools that abstract away the complexity of AWS, so developers don't have to wait for someone to click buttons
Bring deep Linux SRE expertise to an environment where microseconds matter, supporting the upgrade and optimization of our Red Hat (RHEL) environments
Write clean, highly optimized Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK) to ensure everything is reproducible, version-controlled, and tuned for maximum performance
Create and improve deployment pipelines to drive quality and ensure that what we deliver does not put our services at risk
Participate in standard on-call rotations as part of the platform engineering team
