Midi Health

US · Full-time · $210,000 – $260,000

About this role

Midi Health is the largest virtual care clinic for women in midlife navigating perimenopause, menopause, and other hormonal transitions. We combine expert clinicians, evidence-based protocols, and a modern technology platform to deliver historically underserved care. You'll set the direction for how Midi builds with AI across clinical workflows, patient experience, and operational intelligence.

You'll own the architecture of AI systems, evaluation practices that keep them safe, and standards letting every engineer ship AI features confidently. Lead technical strategy for AI/LLM systems across product surfaces. Architect retrieval, orchestration, agentic, and evaluation systems that run reliably in production.

Hybrid by design with two days a week in-office Tuesday and Thursday in Palo Alto or San Francisco. AI-native engineering expects fluency with modern AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot. Low-ego, high-curiosity teams approach disagreement with humility and technical rigor.

Mentor senior and mid-level engineers into strong AI engineers and raise AI literacy across the org. Partner with clinical, product, and executive leadership to shape the AI roadmap. Lead the frontier by evaluating new models, techniques, and tools to bring into the team.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with deep recent time leading production AI/LLM systems
  • Seasoned hands-on coder who still writes production Python regularly
  • Seasoned system designer for AI systems at scale including retrieval, agents, evaluation, latency, and cost
  • Authority in AI engineering where teams and leaders defer to your judgment and you defend it rigorously
  • Leader at the AI frontier who sets how the team uses AI tooling and builds AI products
  • Seasoned mentor who has grown engineers into strong AI builders
  • Strong communicator with product, clinical, and executive stakeholders, thoughtful about risk and safety tradeoffs
