Robert Half, a Fortune World's Most Admired Company, is hiring a Generative AI Engineer Virtual Intern to join the Protiviti Applications department. This intern will help develop and support AI-driven applications using large language models, retrieval augmented generation, vector databases, and prompt engineering.

Day-to-day work involves designing, developing, and maintaining generative AI applications and conversational agents. The role includes applying techniques like RAG and embeddings to enhance model outcomes, evaluating LLM output with appropriate metrics, and iteratively improving results.

The team's vision is to shape the technological future of the company by using AI to deliver strategic and innovative solutions for the enterprise. Interns will stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in AI to implement cutting-edge solutions.

This virtual internship runs full-time (40 hours per week) from June 17 through August 7, 2026. It offers an opportunity to communicate model results, solicit feedback from stakeholders, and showcase internally developed Gen AI applications to various business partners.

Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program related to computer science, with a graduation year of 2027.
Working knowledge of a programming or scripting language (Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or SQL).
Working knowledge of LLM and Generative AI concepts and real-world applications.
Working knowledge of evaluating LLM output with appropriate metrics.
Good working knowledge of SQL query language (preferably with Microsoft SQL Server) and SQL Server DB concepts.
Understanding of NoSQL concepts and Cosmos DB.
Understanding of Cloud Platforms is a plus (Azure/AWS).
Ability to work full 40-hour weeks virtually from June 17 – August 7, 2026.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Generative AI applications, advanced AI models, and conversational agents.
Use Gen AI techniques like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and embeddings to enhance model outcomes.
Perform evaluation on LLM output using appropriate metrics and iteratively improve results.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in AI to implement cutting-edge solutions.
Communicate model results and solicit feedback from stakeholders at various levels.
