About this role

Sony Corporation of America is seeking an Intern, Security Architecture to join the Corporate Information Security Division (CISD) in Reston, VA for a 12-week summer internship running from June through August. This role focuses on establishing a unified enterprise security architecture to secure Sony's information assets, services, and products, building trust with customers and stakeholders while protecting privacy.

The intern will directly contribute to projects involving cloud-based applications across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, as well as enterprise-wide email security architecture and global data architecture programs. Daily work includes assisting with implementing security architecture methodologies in network, cloud, endpoint, and email domains, and helping to document current and ideal states of the Security Reference Architecture.

The CISD team operates globally, supporting Sony's vast ecosystem of devices, entertainment, and services. This position offers flexibility to work either hybrid or fully remote, providing hands-on exposure to enterprise-level security challenges and collaboration with experienced security architects and engineers.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Interest in pursuing a career in cyber security, security architecture, and security engineering on a global scale
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
  • Understanding of network security, endpoint security, and email security fundamentals
  • Ability to research and assess emerging technologies, industry standards, regulations, and threats
  • Basic knowledge of security frameworks and reference architectures

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing Security Architecture methodologies in areas of network, cloud, endpoint, and email
  • Assist in the development and design of security best practices
  • Assist with implementation of security principles across the organization to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with documenting the current state and ideal state of Security Reference Architecture
  • Support development and refinement of global information security technical standards, guidelines, and training
  • Research and assess emerging technologies, industry standards, regulations, and threats
  • Contribute to the evaluation and design of security controls for cloud-based applications and services
