About this role
The Data Scientist role at QED.ai involves applying machine learning expertise, preferably in computer vision, with a respectful track record in competitive data modeling or notable research achievements.
Daily work includes expressing critical thinking and receiving constructive feedback through daily code review, while staying well-versed with the latest trends in top-performing tools and the ML research community.
You will work with Python and core AI tools, leveraging strong fluency in both, and collaborate with a team that values logical reasoning, confidence, and a team-oriented attitude.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work where you care about what you do, with flexibility for exceptional students to contribute at least 24 hours per week.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in machine learning, preferably in computer vision.
- Respectable track record in competitive data modeling and/or notable research achievements.
- Well-versed with the latest trends in top-performing tools and the ML research community.
- Strong fluency in Python and in the main AI-related tools of the trade.
- Strong skills in logical reasoning and critical thinking, with confidence to express and receive constructive feedback through daily code review.
- Non-superficial intuitions about AI, beyond import blackbox.
- Good fluency in English speaking and writing (typing > 35 wpm).
- You have to care about the work that you do.
Responsibilities
- Develop and apply machine learning models, with a focus on computer vision applications.
- Participate in daily code review sessions to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
- Stay current with the latest ML research and top-performing tools to drive innovation.
- Conduct competitive data modeling and contribute to research achievements.
- Work with enterprise data warehouse software and data processing pipelines.
- Handle datasets that cannot fit on a desktop using systems engineering techniques.
- Apply strong logical reasoning and critical thinking to solve complex data problems.
