About this role
Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Data Scientist to develop and implement AI-driven solutions that enhance cybersecurity measures within the organization. This role leverages data science techniques to analyze security data, detect threats, and improve security processes with generative AI and other analytic capabilities.
The Data Scientist will work closely with cybersecurity teams to identify data-driven automation opportunities that strengthen the organization's security posture. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing analytics to address security concerns, performing exploratory data analyses to identify patterns and anomalies, and designing security-focused analytics pipelines using MLOps and agent-based architectures.
Collaboration is key—this role partners with Data Engineers to translate security-focused algorithms into effective solutions and contributes to data engineering efforts to refine data infrastructure. The team environment is cross-functional, bringing together data science, engineering, and cybersecurity expertise to push beyond what's known today.

Requirements
- Proficiency in data science techniques including generative AI, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
- Experience with MLOps practices and designing analytics pipelines.
- Familiarity with agent-based architectures for threat detection and response.
- Strong skills in exploratory data analysis and descriptive statistics.
- Ability to collaborate with data engineering teams on data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security data analytics.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and relevant data science libraries.
Responsibilities

- Work in technical teams to develop, deploy, and apply applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
- Perform exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics to identify security patterns and anomalies.
- Design and implement security-focused analytics pipelines leveraging MLOps practices, generative AI, and agent-based architectures for threat detection and response.
- Collaborate with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing, and development of security-related data pipelines.
- Contribute to data engineering efforts to refine data infrastructure and ensure scalable, efficient security analytics.
- Generate reports, annotated code, and other project artifacts to document, archive, and communicate work and outcomes.
