Join the team as a Principal Software Engineer embedded within the Product organization. You will help drive growth for the next generation of the Twilio platform designed to power the agentic future of customer conversations.
In this hands-on role you serve as a customer-facing technical expert collaborating directly with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, GTM, and Developer Evangelism. You will deliver code, often open source, to demonstrate the power of Twilio and prove product market fit.
This person will help us get our ideas out into the world and provide hands-on feedback in the earliest stages of product development. Your contributions will yield signals that directly impact the trajectory of what and how we build.
Requirements
- 7+ years architecting and operating high-scale cloud systems with expertise in resilient, distributed architectures.
- Deep production experience in JS/TS and Python using AI-assisted development.
- Proven ability to deliver open source code and technical demonstrations that prove product market fit.
- Experience translating raw customer feedback into product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Strong track record of producing conference talks, technical blogs, and open source contributions for developer ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-quality, solution-oriented code, including quickstart repos, Hello World POCs, and demos that serve as inspiration for builders.
- Be the high-bandwidth bridge between the market and the roadmap by translating customer friction and agentic trends into actionable product strategy.
- Build brand trust and authority by delivering high-impact conference talks, producing technical deep-dives and blogs, and contributing to open source projects.
- Actively partner with PMs, GTM, and Engineering teams to provide actionable feedback on technical direction, user experience, and systemic challenges.
- Translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences including product managers, executives, non-technical stakeholders, and community members.
- Work closely with Solution Engineers, Developer Evangelists, and Customers to assemble Twilio products for agentic and non-agentic applications.
